In addition to our list of doctors and cancer centers known to have a special interest in mesothelioma, there are other ways to find doctors that specialize, at least to some extent, in mesothelioma.  A clinical trial search at the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) website http://www.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials lists over twentey doctors and five pharmaceutical companies (see below) running clinical trials for mesothelioma. 

 

Because they are running trials they presumably have some interest or special knowledge of this particular type of cancer.  Since trials are often opening and closing it is important to occasionally run a new search at the clinical trials website shown above. For a current listing of all mesothelioma clinical trials listed by the National Cancer Institute you can also see our page on mesothelioma clinical trials.  As of July 2010 there were 63 trials listed, 39 of those are in the United States.  Most of the non-US trials are in Europe.  Mesothelioma trials are taking place in AL, AR, CA, CO, DE, GA, IL, ME, MI, MA, MN, WV, NE, NM, PA, TN, TX, and VA.

 

Another way to find doctors is to run an Entrez PubMed search using the keyword mesothelioma. This is the massive medical database of the National Library of Medicine (NLM).  A list of article with their authors will be shown. Try to narrow it down by using additional keywords like pleural, and use limits to look at recent articles.  Because these authors (doctors) are writing articles on mesothelioma one would assume that they will have a better than average knowledge of it.
